At Paint Mines Interpretive Park outside of Calhan (El Paso) today I found a White-eyed Vireo as well as a Bell's Vireo. Both birds were staying low in the chokecherries along the main wash going up into the formations, the White-eyed near the main intersection with the caution sign, the Bell's a bit further along. Other birds included Green-tailed Towhee, two Hermit Thrush, two Virginia's Warblers, an Empid I was leaning towards Hammond's on, Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, White-crowned Sparrows, Northern Mockingbirds, Rock Wrens, Say's Pheobes, a Loggerhead Shrike and a Spotted Towhee. Meadowlarks were abundant and singing, and we got to witness some beautiful skylarking from male Lark Buntings. Several Swainson's, Red-tails, and Kestrels on the way out.
