Visitors:
Shmuel (Sammy) Korengut Who found us the GE stayed for 3 hours, and Roger Freeman who has been at Dinosaur Ridge. Both came having read reports on COBirdsfrom this site. A young couple from Hawaii asked a number of questions. A young man came up the trail from the NE carrying a backpack and hiking poles. On asking him where he was going, he said that he was a paraglider but the winds were too strong, but told us that between 5 and 6 PM when the mountains further west cool, and blast of cool air comes down Clear Creek Canyon acting as a wedge lifting up the warm air, given rise to a lot of lift, which they called the Magic Hour. Sure enough between 5 PM and 6 PM, 6 paragliders took off and glided around. Earlier in the stronger wind there had been 2 hang gliders.

Weather:
We were busy this morning, so we came up by 2 PM MDT to see if there would be a reasonable migration in the afternoon and evening at this watch, especially because Emma Riley one of the official hawk counters at Dinosaur Ridge the past 2 spring seasons would get good numbers of migrants between 4 and 6 PM. Winds were light from the ENE, with stronger gusts; temperatures mid 60s to 80s; humidity 23 â€" 14%, steady barometer, cloud cover only 10% at the beginning but mostly in the West and North, not where it would help us find migrantsthe migrants.

Raptor Observations:
We scanned the blue sky systematically, especially looking high as there could have been thermals without a cloud capping them because they extremely low humidity, and found few migrants,. Non-migrant raptors: An adult Golden Eagle found by Shmuel which flew over Green Mountain, turned around flying north, turned around again near Buckley AFB, flew SW where we could see it against Lookout Mountain â€" the tan carpal bars (which are seen in all ages of GE except juvenile) could readily be seen. RT 4. TV 1.

Non-raptor Observations:
Steller's Jay 1, Mountain Chickadee 1, Common Raven 1, White-throated Swift 4, American Crow 46 including 37 together flying east over Lookout Mountain.

Predictions:
Mostly sunny, with a high near 84. Light and variable wind becoming east southeast 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon, with gusts after noon of 10-15 mph. We will be there tomorrow close to 10 AM.
