Our first week of banding at Connected Lakes State Park got off to a slow start with high winds forcing an early closure on Monday, and scattered storms and winds shuttering us on Tuesday. The southerly winds of the past couple weeks kept migrant numbers low, and we closed the week having banded only 21 individuals of 8 species. However, this weekend's front and high numbers on birdcast have us hopeful for the coming week!
-- Our station is located at the Connected Lakes section of the Colorado River State Park. Visitors are welcome, but we recommend visiting before 9:30 am as we have school groups every day this week. First net run is at 7:20 Monday-Friday.
This Saturday, 9/28, we are hosting a public demo day and, weather permitting, will run nets 7:20a-12:50p. You can also join us for a Grand Valley Audubon fundraiser at Hot Tomato Pizzeria 9/26 from 5-8p.
You can find our banded species listed below. And if you are interested in additional species we saw at the park last week, you can check out our eBird trip report for the week. https://ebird.org/tripreport/277322
