I found a wren along Bear Creek (Lakewood, Jefferson County) this morning (10:30 am) that is either a Pacific Wren or a Winter Wren - I am not 100% sure because both Pacific and Winter Wrens look almost identical to me. This individual was very rufous in color and Merlin Sound ID suggested Pacific Wren. I wonder what people with more wrenxperience think it is.
This happy little guy was foraging along the dam in the middle of the creek, popping in and out of sight. The dam is located right across from a conveniently located fallen log that one could sit on and observe, along Bear Creek Trail. There was also a Swamp Sparrow that appeared briefly before moving on upstream, and several other birds of lesser stature.
