Today was the first day of Spring banding at Chico Basin Ranch. It was a bit chilly and threatened to rain but we only felt a few drops. We set up the site and had nets open for about 3 hours in the late morning. In total we banded 19 birds of 9 species:
-- Ruby-crowned Kinglet: 2
Orange-crowned Warbler: 1
House Wren: 2
Yellow-rumped "Audubon's" Warbler: 3
Yellow-rumped "Myrtle" Warbler: 3
Dark-eyed "Pink-sided" Junco: 1
American Goldfinch: 1
Lincoln's Sparrow: 1
Hermit Thrush: 3
Spotted Towhee: 2
We are open 6 days a week (closed Sundays), weather permitting. This week we'll be opening nets around 6:30 and closing around 11:30.
Come visit!
