Hello, Birders. A couple dozen of us had a wonderful time earlier today, Sat., Dec. 12, in the winter wonderland of Greenlee Preserve and Waneka Lake, eastern Boulder County.
-- Highlights were a beautiful white-throated sparrow; three killdeer still hanging on; a flyover bald eagle; an ominous California gull mixed in with the ring-billed gulls; a couple of Nelson white-breasted nuthatches; problematic geese, and many dark-eyed juncos, every one of them seemingly different from every other one.
In theory, we were practicing for the the imminent Christmas Bird Count season, but, mainly, we just had a good time. Here are photos and memories:
