The TUNDRA SWAN was at Valmont Reservoir again late this afternoon. Several hundred gulls were also there, more than half of them arriving during the hour that I was there before sunset. The gulls included an adult THAYER'S GULL (probably continuing from last weekend) and an adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL (perhaps a new arrival).
-- In terms of numbers for the count, Valmont is still a good spot for Mergansers: at least 31 Hooded, at least a couple dozen Red-Breasted, and roughly 1000 Common.
