COBirders,
Veteran CFO members will be saddend to learn of the death last week of Dr. John Yaeger of Pueblo. He held a membership in CFO for forty years, was a founding board member of what is now the Nature and Raptor Center of Pueblo, and the Field Trip Chair while serving on the board of Arkansas Valley Audubon in the 1970s and 1980s. John was very active in working with government agencies concerned with land management, always promoting the welfare of wildlife and its environment. In the August 1 edition of the Pueblo Chieftain he was quoted as having said “(Bird-watching) leads to greater appreciation of our environment and hopefully educates people about the ways to protect it.” Dr. Yaeger, a retired pediatrician, passed away on his 93rd birthday.
His son Mark, aka Radeaux, the very well known bird artist, is the illustrator of the Colorado Breeding Bird Atlases I & II.
Leon Bright, Pueblo
