I checked Crow Valley Campground (Weld County) and surroundings this morning and found some expected but nice migrants: Cassin's Vireo, 3 American Redstarts, 4 Gray Catbirds, 2 Olive-sided Flycatchers, and 2 uncooperative empids. The Red-breasted Nuthatches reported previously by Steve Mlodinow are still there, but I did not find the White-winged Dove. The area near the "magic junipers" in the southwest part of the wildlife area was best and was briefly hopping, but otherwise the birds were shy and hard to find.
If you go "off trail" looking for birds, be prepared to deal with tall grass and weeds.Nearby Norma's Grove was a bit slow. The most interesting birds were a male Lazuli Bunting, a Prairie Falcon, and several Sage Thrashers. The acrobatics of Common Nighthawks provided good entertainment at both locations.
