[cobirds] Field trip this Saturday to Red Canyon Park near Canon City for Gray Flycatchers, Juniper Titmouse & more

Today I found the probable same family of Gray Flycatchers for the 4th time in just over a week and at least one and likely two young are still being fledged.  Also found a second family of Gray Flycatchers there, saw a single (surprisingly) Pinyon Jay, Juniper Titmice, plus enjoyed a flock of about a dozen Evening Grosbeak chowing down on juniper berries.   Just an excellent amount of specialized bird activity going on in this pinyon-juniper habitat.  I will post more on this later.

So I am leading a field trip there this Saturday, August 23, for those who would like to catch as much of the action before the neotropical migrants leave.  We will meet at 8 am at the Shell Station on the corner of H50 and Dozier Ave in Canon City (the second traffic light going east on H50 after you go down the hill into town).  Please email or call me (719-429-3821) so I know who is coming.  We will break up a little after lunch or sooner for those who need to leave early.  Need to bring water/drinks, hat, food, insect repellent for gnats (no mosquitoes but annoying gnats).
