ALAMOSA COUNTY:
--A Snowy Plover was reported by Rawinski at Blanca Wetlands, east of Alamosa on August 11.  The best place for shorebirds was Pond #114 just N of "t" in Road.  Go either N or S.

ARAPAHOE COUNTY:
--A juvenile plumaged LITTLE GULL was reported by Walbek at Cherry Creek SP in the middle of the lake on August 14, August 15, August 17 and August 19.

BOULDER COUNTY:
--On August 16 on the Bird Walk led by Steve Frye at Betasso Preserve they reported 40 Pygmy Nuthatches, 4 Lesser Goldfinches, 1 Common Raven and 10 Western Bluebirds.

EL PASO COUNTY:
--A Mississippi Kite was reported by Goff at Adams Open space in Fountain on August 21.

FREMONT COUNTY:
--Gray Flycatchers were reported by Moss at Red Canyon Park 10 miles N of Canon City on August 16.  There was a family of four plus an additional 3 Gray Flycatchers.  On August 20, Moss found two Gray Flycatcher families at Red Canyon Park.  On August 23, Moss refound Gray Flycatcher family plus 2 other Gray Flycatchers.

GRAND COUNTY:
--On August 13, Remsen reported 18 Black-throated Gray Warblers and 4 Black-chinned Hummingbirds on CR 117 above Radium.

LA PLATA COUNTY:
--A WHIP-POOR-WILL was found by Larson and Remsen S of Durango on Hwy 140 near the state line on August 16.

LARIMER COUNTY:
--A Northern Waterthrush was reported by Biggerstaff at Dixon Reservoir low in bushes just S of the inlet stream on the S side of the dam on August 14.
--On August 22 at Lory SP, Komar reported American Three-toed Woodpecker, White-throated Swift, 6 Common Raven, 6 Pygmy Nuthatch, and 6 Lesser Goldfinch.

LOGAN  COUNTY:
--A Lesser Black-backed Gull was reported by Mlodinow at Jumbo on August 16.
--4+ Bell's Vireos were reported by Kaempfer in hedgerows at Little Jumbo on August 16.

MESA COUNTY:
--On August 11, Cooper reported migrating Purple Martins and Common Nighthawks at Fruita Reservoir #2.
--On August 10, Korte reported 10 Purple Martins on Brush Creek Road where it enters Aspens.  Some of th 
martins were recently fledged.
--On August 18, Stigen reported 3 American Three-toed Woodpeckers on Grand Mesa on the Crag Crest trail.

MONTEZUMA COUNTY:
--On August 18 at Lone Dome Recreational Area, Remsen reported Common Raven and Lesser Goldfinch.

MONTROSE COUNTY:
--7-8 Black Swifts were reported by Dexter in Nucla flying low over a farm pond on August 22.

MORGAN COUNTY:
--3 Caspian Terns were reported by Dowell at Jackson Lake SP on the NE side of the lake on August 11.
On August 15, Mlodinow reported a Caspian Tern at Jackson Lake on the NE side.   At the campground side, Mlodinow reported a Northern Waterthrush on August 15.

PARK COUNTY:
--2 Mountain Plovers were reported by Suddjian at James Mark Jones SWA off CR 15 on August 19.
--2 Band-tailed Pigeons were reported by Suddjian near Bailey on August 19.

PUEBLO COUNTY:
--On August 16, Percival reported the following at Valco Ponds/Rock Canyon:  Northern Waterthrush, 1 Black Phoebe, and 5 Eastern Phoebe, 2 Cassin's Kingbirds
--On August 16, Moss reported 4 ACORN WOODPECKERS in pines at Pueblo Mountain Park.
--A Greater Roadrunner was reported by Moss on Siloam Road in West Pueblo County on August 16.
--A Greater Roadrunner was reported by Percival at Pueblo Reservoir W of North Picnic Road on August 21.

SEDGWICK COUNTY:
--A Lesser Black-backed Gull was reported by Walbek at Jumbo Reservoir on August 22.

WASHINGTON COUNTY:
--2 Great Crested Flycatchers were reported by Mlodinow at the inlet Channel at Prewitt on August 20.

WELD COUNY:
--A White-winged Dove was reported by Mlodinow at Crow Valley on August 13.

DFO Field Trips:
The DFO Field Trip for Saturday, August 23 will be to Chatfield SP led by Bob Shade (303-975-2476).   
Call Leader if going.
Meet inside west entrance of park off S> Wadsworth, 1.5 miles south of C-470.  State Parks Pass required. This will be a half-day trip so lunch will be optional but bring water and a snack.

The DFO Field Trip for Sunday, August 24 will be to Walden Ponds in Boulder led by Chuck Hundertmark  (chundertmark AT gmail.com or 303-604-0531) .  Call or email if going.
Meet leader at Cottonwood Marsh parking lat a 0800.  Half-day trip.  Easy walking 2 to 3 miles.  If time allow, will also cehck Teller Lake #5 and White Rocks Trail.  

The next monthly meeting of Denver Field Ornithologists will be on Monday, August 25 at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science in Ricketson Auditorium at 7:30 pm.  Bob Shade will give a program on Birds of Japan.
