Birders,
I had plans to meet Eric DeFonso to look for the white-morph Reddish
Egret at Lake Hasty early this morning. Eric found it before I got
there, and told me it had flown away from the lake in a northeasterly
direction.
I called the landowners at a private ranch that has a shallow pond, and
asked them to check out their private lake. Sure enough, the Reddish
Egret landed there.
The bird might be visible from US 50 three miles east of Hasty, but tall
cattails may hinder views. The bird may return to Lake Hasty, but that's
not guaranteed. If birders try for the bird and miss it at Lake Hasty, I
have been given permission to take birders onto the private property to
look, but I can't promise I'll be available. Birders do NOT have
permission to enter this private property on their own.
