Birders,
I observed and photographed a sub-adult white-morph Reddish Egret at
Lake Hasty, below the dam at John Martin Reservoir, on 8/20/13. It was
partial to the shallow water near either side of the isthmus that
bifurcates the north and south halves of the lake. The best places to
look are the southeast bay on the north lake, immediately north of the
swim beach on the east side of the lake, and the northwest bay of the
south lake, visible from the wooden deck immediately east of the west
side restroom.
This is undoubtedly the same bird as I first reported at Adobe Creek
Reservoir (Kiowa County) on July 5th, refound a week later by Dave
Dowell at Lake Meredith in Crowley County (currently closed to public
access due to low water levels).
