Re: [cobirds] W.I.L.D. Bird Rehab Center

I wanted to add a note to Hugh's post. I volunteer at the rehab center when I can. Debbie does amazing work and is still incredibly busy. When I was there on Sat, she had a sora with a bad wing (and eating earth worms like a champ!), a Swainson's hawk (quickly on it's way to the raptor rehab center), and hummingbirds that she has raised by hand that were brought in when they were the size of a tic tac!
In addition to these species, Debbie is still raising lots of sparrows, finches (gold and house), blue jays, crows, grackles, robins, starlings, downy woodpeckers, nuthatches, kingbirds, flickers, magpies, ducks, geese, doves, pigeons, you name it!
On top of Debbie's current difficulties and sorrow, she has found out that she must be out of their current location by October. She's looking for a new home for the center. Does anyone have some ideas of where she might relocate?
Debbie is always looking for volunteers. Feeding and caring for the sick, injured or young birds is a challenging and rewarding experience. She could even use help with the mountains of paperwork that the state requires to run the center.
The Wild Bird Rehab Center is the only place for sick or injured birds to be taken in the Denver metro area. She sees up to 3,000 birds a season and has a higher survival rate than many other centers of its type.
Thank you for your consideration, Deb Carstensen, Arapahoe County.

FYI  -- if you want to send a donation to W.I.L.D. Bird (rehab center) in memory of Candace Stuart, here's the address:

W.I.L.D. Bird

Debbie Stempel now runs both the rehab center and the store -- they consume most of her waking hours.
