Adams County:

--A Little Blue Heron in transitional phase plumage was reported by Canter at Lowell Ponds SWA on July 19.  It was along the shore and on the island of Heron Lake.  Lowell Ponds is at 56th and Lowell.  Gonder reported the Little Blue Heron at Lowell and Clear Creek on July 22.  On July 26, Canter reported the  Little Blue at Clear Creek and Lowell.  On July 29 Gillilan reported the Little Blue Heron at the eastern edge of Lowell Ponds.  On August 4, Canter reported that the Little Blue Heron was at Heron Lake -- both on the shore and on the island.  Heron Lake is the largest Eastern most lake at Lowell Ponds.  On August 5, Gilbert reported the Little Blue Heron on Clear Creek W of the bridge, she could not located the Little BLue on August 6.

--A ROYAL TERN was reported by Mlodinow at Barr Lake on July 29.    On July 30 Stachowiak and Kilpatrick along with many other birders saw the ROYAL TERN at Barr Lake.  Goff reported that the ROYAL TERN was seen around 1030 on July 31 on a buoy at Barr Lake.  On August 2, Brooke observed the ROYAL TERN on the usual sand bar at Barr Lake.

Boulder County:

A Fox Sparrow was observed by Kippes at Fawn Brook Inn in Allenspark on August 4.

Clear Creek County:

--On August 2, Coley reported that the Barrow's Goldeneye family at Echo Lake was down to 4 ducklings.

Fremont County:

--A LEAST BITTERN was flushed by Rich Miller from Cattails along the S shore of Holcim Wetlands on July 25.  Miller also reported 2 Black Phoebes and 3 Eastern Phoebes at Holcim.  On July 30, Percival reported LEAST BITTERN and 2 Green Herons at Holcim.

Jefferson County:

--A Northern Cardinal was reported by Mayfield at Prospect Park in Wheat Ridge on August 1.  The Cardinal was S of the boardwalk that runs through the marsh east of West Lake.

--A Green Heron was reported by Mayfield on August 1 on the west side of Prospect Lake on the little platform dock with cormornats and Canada Geese.

Morgan County:

--A Rose-breasted Grosbeak was reported by Retzer SW of Jackson Lake on Hwy 34 on August 4.

Prowers County:

--At Lamar Community College Woods on August 1, Leatherman reported 3 Northern Cardinals (2m,1f).

--A Red-bellied Woodpecker was reported by Charier at the N end of Willow Creek Park in Lamar on July 28.  Leatherman reported Red-bellied Woodpecker at Willow Creek Park and neighborhood E of park on August 1.

--White-winged Doves were reported by Leatherman in Willow Valley neighborhood E of Willow Creek Park on August 1.

Pueblo County:

--2 ACORN WOODPECKERS first reported by Van Manen in Pueblo Mountain Park on June 16 were relocated by Percival on August 1.  They were in the big dead tree at Horseshoe Lodge Parking Lot.  Percival also reported 2 Grace's Warblers and a singing male Hooded Warbler close to the parking lot on the left past the old basketball court on August 1.  On August 2, Lewis refound the ACORN WOODPECKERS below the dead tree.  On August 3, Witters reported one ACORN WOODPECKER and Grace's and Hooded Warbler at Pueblo Mt Park.  On August 4, Moss reported that the ACORN WOODPECKER pair were feeding young at the nest in the big dead tree.

Weld County:

--Two Mississippi Kites were reported by Lefko at Glenmere Park in Greeley with nesting material on July 15.  On July 17, France and Roller reported several Mississippi Kites, Roller had 5.  Leatherman reported on July 20 that the 2 ad Mississippi Kites along with 3 imm continue at Glenmere Park.  On July 22 around 1630 Komar reported that 7+ Mississippi Kites came into roost around the East end of the lake near the Pavilion building at Glenmere Park.  On July 26 around 1645 Rushton reported that 7 Mississippi Kites came into roost in the tall Cottonwood to the right of the pavilion as you face the pavilion with your back to the lake.  On July 31, Galbach reported 3 Mississippi Kites at Glenmere coming into  roost.

The DFO field trip for Saturday, August 11 will be to the Longmont Area led by Chris Owens 303-772-6048.  Meet the leader at 0730 at Jim Hamm Park.  From I-25 take Exit 240.  To reach the park , go west 4 miles on CO 119 to Boulder/Weld County Line Road, then north 2 miles to Jim Hamm Park at 17th Ave.  This will be a half day trip so lunch is optional but do bring extra water.  Will bird until noon and plan on walking about 1.5 miles

The DFO field trip for Sunday, August 12 will be to Mt Falcon led by Lois Levinson 303-908-3403.  Meet the leader at 0800 at the uppar parking lot.  From C-470 and US 285 South:  Turn right at the Indian Hills exit (CO 120/Parmalee Gulch Rd).  Follow Parmalee Gulch Road for 2.6 miles to Pictuis Road, turn Right at Picturis, then follow the signs for Mt Falcon (1.9 miles) to the upper parking area.  This will be a half day trip so lunch is optional but bring water and snacks.  Call leader if you are going.
