Subject: [cobirds] Jackson Lake SP--possible Curlew Sandpiper

Today, I decided to go to Jackson in search of the Little Gull, Buff-breasted Sandpiper, or even the Curlew Sandpiper.  In the hot conditions, I ran into a birder from England staying in Fort Collins.  I asked him if he had anything of interest, and he stated "maybe to you".  He said he was sure he had a Curlew Sandpiper on the shore adjacent to the campground.  He said he thought it was a Dunlin but then realized it was a Curlew Sandpiper.  He said he had a lot of expirence with this bird and was suprised by the find.  He stated the bird was with a few Baird Sandpipers and then the group moved to the south, and he couldn't re-find the bird. He decribed the bird perfectly and was unaware we had one earlier in the week. I looked, but my time was limited. He was looking for a lifer, Buff-breasted sandpiper, that was found moments later.  I truely believe the bird is still around Jackson.  Many of the reported birds were still at Jackson in very good numbers.  After Jackson, I was able to re-locate the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher at Van Bibber Park in Arvada.  Photos of the Buff-breasted and Scissor-tailed Flycatcher can be found in the Recent Additions below:
