[cobirds] Dunlin - El Paso County

COBirders,

Rise" Foster-Bruder called me earlier today and informed me that the Dunlin is still at the small reservoir mudflats on the sw corner of Stapleton and Lambert in the ne sector of Falcon.  I left work to chase the bird and it was still there around 3:30 - 4:00 p.m.  It blends in quite well with the mudflats, but is relatively easy to find. A spotting scope helps.  Thank you Cecile Lee for finding and reporting this bird a while back.

Incidentally, despite all the development around Falcon in the last 20 years, I was surprised by how much water was flowing through the parkways.  I hadn't driven through this area for a while.  The detention ponds offer some good habitat for shorebirds in El Paso County.  Habitat that we don't have much of here with Ramah Reservoir almost always dry and with such distant viewing at Big Johnson Reservoir.

Good Birding,

Ken Pals
