Hi all,
This morning, Pearle Sandstrom-Smith, Clif Smith, and I saw three Pygmy Nuthatches in Pueblo City Park in Pueblo, Pueblo County, near the Frisbee Creek on the west side of the park. This species seems to show up here, somewhat regularly in the fall, and sometimes stays through the winter at this location. Maybe this is a sign of some mountain birds wandering onto the plains this fall/winter.
Eastern warblers were totally lacking for me around Pueblo, over the Labor Day weekend. I walked around the Valco Ponds/Rock Canyon area, below Pueblo Reservoir dam over the three day weekend, and couldn't find any, not even an American Redstart or a Northern Waterthrush. I didn't see any Townsend's Warblers either, though I did see at least one Cassin's Vireo.
The basic adult Laughing Gull I saw at Pueblo Reservoir at Sailboard launching area, on 1 Sept, hasn't been seen since that date, as far as I know.
