Hi COBirders,
Another good day of banding at Chico Basin Ranch, although with the clear skies last night we had more migrants leave than arrive. About 50 birds were banded today. Full report to follow.
Bird-of-the-Day was another WINTER WREN. They are too cute.
Also different today was a resurgence of arriving sparrows, with several Chipping, Brewer's, Lincoln's and Mountain White-crowned Sparrows. Wilson's warblers continue, and several thrushes, mostly Hermit today. There was a lot of warbler feeding activity midday, both low and high in the Russian Olives and cottonwoods.
No banding is scheduled for Sunday. We have banded about 1100 birds in 2 1/2 weeks. A day off will be welcome.
Good birding,
