I was asked to post this notice of proposed activity below the dam at Two Buttes Res for Linda Paulsen, landowner nw of Lamar. Depending on the extent of the activity, this could be nothing or this could be significant in terms of habitat. I know nothing of the specifics of what has been proposed but in my experience, when a ditch company is deciding anything about about trees, trees disappear to an extent disproportionate to the need.

Update from Colorado Parks and Wildlife Officer Aaron Bartleson
Two Buttes Reservoir Latest news: As part of our agreement with the State Division of Water Resources, and their willingness to let us store 32 feet of water in the lake, the canal located beneath the dam at the Black Hole will need to be repaired. Part of this process includes the removal of all of the trees living or dead that are currently in the canal. This means FREE FIREWOOD for all that want to come and load up a truck. Aaron is looking for folks that are willing to come down, Chainsaw in hand, to cut and remove these trees. Let me know if you can help out and of course take home some free wood. AB
Hello Fellow Birders,
I was made aware of this article this evening concerning tree cutting "in the canal" at Two Buttes Reservoir. (Black Hole) I thought it might be of interest to the birding community. I am not sure as to the extent of the tree cutting activities to come. Janeal Thompson and I will investigate tomorrow and will give you all an update in the event that this great birding area will be jeopardized.
