[cobirds] Rosy + Golden @ Red Rocks - Jeffco

Hello All,

Michael Kiessig and I were at the Red Rocks feeders behind the Trading
Post bright and early this morning. The Golden-crowned Sparrow put in
a first appearance before 7:30 A.M. and several after that. A flock
of about 70 Rosy-Finches circled around several times but never did
come into the feeders in mass. However there were small groups that
landed on the cliff faces to the south and then came in to feed on the
rock wall in small numbers(<10 at a time). Most were Gray-crowned
with some Hepburn's, at least two black and one Brown-capped.

Tomorrow might be another good morning - it is snowing in Morrison
right now. Bring seed as I will not be able to get to Red Rocks in
the morning. On another note, the pair of Common Ravens that nest on
the backside of Ship Rock and the pair of Prairie Falcons that nest on
Park Cave Rock are in courtship mode at the present. Still too early
for the Peregrine Falcons.
