Visitors:
A visitor from Ohio inquired whether we were looking for mountain goats or elk. I explained what we were doing, and it was completely out of his experience.

Weather:
Light winds from the WSW changing to SE, cool and pleasant with low humidity and no cloud cover whatsoever, with lots of haze from Canadian and NW US wildfires.

Raptor Observations:
WSW winds would create a headwind for southbound migrants and inhibit migration. For the 1st 2 hours we did not see a single raptor including local ones. as Liza said "We should see locals flying first." The 1st one we saw was a local RT at 11:19 AM MDT which circled around and landed on Lookout Mountain. Thereafter we were able to find 2 kestrels along the "Kestrel Channel" that I have come to call an area to our SE, below the watch, that we can see the glint of sun on the upperwings of kestrels, even without binoculars, making it able for us to see them against the green of the conifers on the north face of Lookout Mountain. Non-migrant raptors: an adult BE chased by a Common Raven to the NE of Mount Zion, all the way to the north.

Non-raptor Observations:
Bluebird species in flight 4, Northern Flicker 1, American Robin 1.

Predictions:
Strong NW winds tomorrow. We will be counting on Sunday when there will be NW winds changing to NE which could be favorable. We have a DFO trip to the watch that you can sign up at dfobirds.org
