[cobirds] Bird Conservancy of the Rockies - Western Slope Banding Station Report- Sept. 30-Oct. 4, 2024

Aside from the unseasonably warm temperatures, our third week of banding at Connected Lakes State Park has us comfortably transitioning into a typical autumn, desert/riparian corridor banding station. We're still seeing a trickle of warbler migration in the form of Wilson's and Orange-crowned Warblers. But unless we are catching an entire flock of Bushtits or White-crowned Sparrows, the net runs have been slow and steady.

Our station is located at the Connected Lakes section of the Colorado River State Park. Visitors are welcome, but we recommend visiting before 9:30 am as we have school groups most days this week. Weather permitting, we are open Monday-Friday until 10/11. First net run is at 7:30.

You can find our banded species listed below. And if you are interested in additional species we saw at the park last week, you can check out our eBird trip report for the week. https://ebird.org/tripreport/280863

Black-capped Chickadee - 1 new, 4 repeat recapture
Bushtit - 16 new
Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 2 new
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher - 1 new
Bewicks's Wren - 1 repeat recapture
