[cobirds] Bird Conservancy of the Rockies- Chico Basin Ranch Banding Station Report- October 2, 2024

An interesting morning...seems like some birds wanted to come north across the fence at the banding station. HA! Anyhow, we had a couple highlights for the day: Another female Second-year Sharp-shinned Hawk, Yellow Warbler, and a Cassin's Vireo. Many of the recaptures were Juncos which is to be expected as they are not going to move too much farther south so they are just hanging out gaining weight.

61 New Banded Birds

Wilson's Warbler- 5

Orange-crowned Warbler- 4

Audubon's Warbler- 1

Ruby-crowned Kinglet- 4

Chipping Sparrow- 4

Oregon Junco- 19

Slate-colored Junco- 1

Lincoln's Sparrow- 3

Gambel's (White-crowned) Sparrow- 12

Mountain (White-Crowned) Sparrow- 1

Song Sparrow- 1

Cassin's Vireo- 1

Hermit Thrush- 3

Gray Catbird- 1

Sharp-shinned Hawk- 1

5 Recaptures- all gained weight from their last capture

Oregon Junco- 4

Lincoln's Sparrow- 1

Hoping for another good day tomorrow. Looks to be a NW wind so who knows? Only tomorrow will tell. The banding station will be open tomorrow from sunrise until @ 11:45AM. Please stop by and share your sightings if you are in the area.
