[cobirds] Probable Baird's Sparrow - SLV 9/1

Hi COBirders,

I saw a probable adult Baird's Sparrow in Conejos County on CR 21 between CR Y and CR W.5 about 4 pm on 9/1.  There are extensive short grass fields in this area.  I had a great look at close range as it perched by the road side on a low wire of the fenced field.  I did not get any photographs.

Other good birds on my trip home from the excellent CFO Convention in Sterling were immature Sabine's Gull on North Mallard Pond in the Blanca Wetlands in Alamosa County and Least Flycatcher at Pike's Stockade in Conejos County.  I believe that both birds are rare in the San Luis Valley (as are birders).
