[cobirds] Cranes Flew in Last Night

I thought it was appropriate that on September 1st, the first cranes flew overhead last night, as the evening temps cooled. Kids jumped on the trampoline as both cranes and geese announced their arrivals, as I tried to watch both kids and birds. It is that glorious season ahead....fall. The smell of roasting green chile being sold by the streetside venders.  Rocky Ford cantelopes are ripe and sweet. And every molting bird is a challenge. Take nothing for granted.  Enjoy the season.

And one other thing. The analysis of Management Plan alternatives for the San Luis Valley Refuges is now open and available for comment. I was pleased to see a proposed alternative that is favorable to birders and others who like some additional opportunities for expanded trail systems and viewing opportunities. If you are interested, find the refuge website and submit comments before early November. I think it is important to let agencies know how we feel about things. These are OUR refuges.
