As the sun went down on Friday, gulls accumulated on the ice shelf forming at the Lake Loveland swim beach in Loveland, CO. In addition to about 300 Ring-billed Gulls, I counted:
Lesser Black-backed Gull-6 adults
Herring Gull -50 or so
I was looking into the sun, so I couldn't really study the numerous large immature gulls. At least one big brown gull didn't look right for first-cycle Herring because it had a bright white rump.
Dave Wade and I will be back there at 7 am tomorrow, if anyone wants to join us. Dress warm.
