[cobirds] Re: South Platte - C470 vicinity

On South Platte Park, If you continue walking north of Mineral Ave next to South Platte river, there is quite few ducks. This last Sunday (sorry for late post) I saw: a northern pintail, several buffleheads, common goldeneyes, several common/Hooded mergansers , 1 ring-necked duck, green-winged teal, 2 Lesser Scaups.

Happy new year!

This morning there were 3 LONG-TAILED DUCKS on South Platte Reservoir, all firmly in the Jeffco pocket south of the boat facility. Two stuck side by side (likely the two that have been there a few weeks) and the third was in their company. Very few other waterbirds on the reservoir.

I walked up the effluent stream that flows to South Platte just upstream of C470. I flushed a WILSON'S SNIPE among many ducks, which included 1 male WOOD DUCK. Blackrock Lake at South Platte Park had 8 GREATER SCAUP with a flock of Lessers.
