[cobirds] birds yesterday 12/6 at Marston Lake and Cherry Creek SP

Among a moderate variety of waterbirds at the largely unfrozen Marston Lake on 12/6, some uncommon species included 1 BARROW'S GOLDENEYE, 1 COMMON LOON, and 2 RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS. A pair of adult BALD EAGLES flew over, scattering scads of geese into the air.

Following up on the report of GREAT-BLACK-BACKED GULL at Cherry Creek SP, I went to look, but initially the bird was not in evidence, then later there it was (viewed from the Smoky Hill vicinity at the time). Other gulls of interest were 1 GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULL, 4 THAYER'S GULLS, and 3 or 4 LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULLS. Also noted: a lone female REDHEAD, and 5-6 BALD EAGLES.
