ARAPAHOE COUNTY:

--On March 17, Teuton reported juv  Glaucous Gull and Iceland Gull seen from the platform off of Prairie Loop at Cherry Creek Reservoir.

BOULDER COUNTY:

--9 Tundra Swans were reported by Hundertmark at Walden Ponds on March 2.  Kaempfer reported 3 Tundra Swans at Valmont Reservoir on March 2.  On March 5, Rynes reported 12 Tundra Swans at Cottonwood Marsh.  On March 6, Waltman reported 12 Tundra Swans at Walden Ponds and 12 Tundra Swans at Clover Basin Reservoir near Longmont.  On March 9, Kaempfer reported 12 Tundra Swans at Walden Ponds.  On March 16, Komar reported 6 Tundra Swans at Walden Ponds.  On March 17, Stiles reported that the Tundra Swans are coming and going between Cottonwood Marsh and Valmont Reservoir.

--A White-winged Dove was reported by Komar in the Gunbarrel area on March 16.

EL PASO COUNTY:

--A Varied Thrush was reported by Bonestroo at Kettle Lake #1 at the Air Force Academy on March 15.  The bird was W of the lake

--100 Bohemian Waxwings were reported by Getty in the neighborhood next to Bear Creek Park in Colorado Springs on March 23. Thet were W of where Argus Blvd ends at Orion Dr. (W of tennis courts).

JEFFERSON COUNTY:

--The GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW at the Red Rocks Trading Post, first reported by Henwood on October 26, was seen again on March 23 by Henwood.

--A Slate-colored Fox Sparrow was reported by Henwood at Red Rocks Trading Post on March 23.

--The Wheat Ridge Redpoll(s) have been showing up in late afternoon at the feeders at Bob Santangelo.  One returned on March 14, and 5 came on March 17.  Santangelo reported 2 Common Redpolls came to the feeders on March 23. His address is 3525 Estes.  Please do NOT park in the driveway, but is okay to park in front of the driveway and get out of cars to see the feeder.

LARIMER COUNTY:

--A Varied Thrush has been visiting the back yard feeders of Ken Allen in Fort Collins since Jan 20.  His address is 1719 Ticonderoga Dr.  Please call first home:  970-225-0988  or cell:  970-443-8093.    On March 17, Komar reported that the Varied Thrush was seen.

--150 Bohemian Waxwings were reported by Kogler at Simpson Ponds SWA in Loveland on CR 9E on March 16.  On March 17, 50 Bohemian Waxwings were reported by Komar at Simpson Ponds SWA.  On March 18, Cropper reported Bohemian Waxwings at Simpson Ponds SWA.  On March 22, Kogler reported 400 Bohemian Waxwings at Simpson Ponds SWA.  They split into smaller flocks and were seen on the N and E sides of the north pond.  Please park in the SWA parking lot.  DO NOT park along the road or on private property.  

--A Trumpeter Swan was reported by Komar on North Hoffman Lake in Loveland on March 16.  The Trumpeter Swan was seen again on March 17 by Komar on North Hoffman Lake.

--2 Bohemian Waxwings were reported by Komar in Loveland on Denver Ave between Eisenhower and 1st  on March 16.

--60 Bohemian Waxwings were reported by Bruening at Laurel and Whitcom across from the CSU campus in Fort Collins on March 18.  On March 20, Gingrich reported flocks of Bohemian Waxwings at Laurel and Whitcom and at Laurel and Loomis.

--3 Lesser Black-backed Gulls were reported by Sean Walters at Lake Loveland on March 18.

--Several large flocks of Bohemian Waxwings were reported by Meyer around the old bridge that crosses over the Poudre River to McMurry Natural Area on March 19.

WELD COUNTY:

--2 Red-necked Grebes were reported by Sheeter at Firestone Gravel pits on the pond closest to Hwy 119 on March 1.  Kaempfer refound the 2 Red-necked Grebes at Firestone Gravel pits on March 16.

--Mlodinow reported on March 5 that the Long-tailed Duck continues at Frederick Rec Area.  Komar relocated the Long-tailed Duck at Frederick Rec Area on March 16.

--On March 16 at Black Hollow, Mlodinow reported 1 ad Lesser Black-backed Gull and 1 ad Thayer's Gull.

--At Timnath Reservoir on March 16, Mlodinow reported a pr of Barrow's Goldeneyes.

--A Thayer's Gull was reported by Komar at Windsor Lake on March 17.

--An Eurasian Wigeon was reported by Mlodinow at CR 59 Ponds just S of US 34 near Kersey on March 20.  Birchmeirer refound the Eurasian Wigeon on March 21.  

--At a pond E of CR 37 and CR 46 on March 20, Mlodinow reported 7 Tundra Swans (5 ad, 2 imm), 1 1-st cyc Glaucous Gull, 1 Thayer's Gull, and 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull.

--At Windsor Lake on March 20, Mlodinow reported 1- Thayer's Gulls and 2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls.

--At Angel Lake on CR 74 W of CR 27, Mlodinow reported a male Mexican Duck on March 20.

--At Woods Lake on CR 74 E of CR 27, Mlodinow reported 1 Thayer's Gull on March 20.

--At Seeley Reservoir on CR 66 between CR 33 and CR 37 on March 20, Mlodinow reported 4 Thayer's Gulls and 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull.

The DFO field trip for Sunday, March 24, will be to Barr Lake led by Mark Amershek and Bruce Neuman (303-329-8646 or mamershek@msn.com.  Meet leader at the Nature Center at 0800.  Half day trip, finshed by noon, or if the birds are good, by 1:00 pm.  You will need a State Parks Pass or purchase a day pass at the entrance kiosk.  Expect to walk no more than 2 miles.  Please RSVP to Mark at the above phone number or e-mail address.  

The next monthly meeting of Denver Field Ornithiologists will be on Monday, March 25 at Ricketson Auditorium in the Denver Museum of Nature and Science at 7:30 pm.  Nancy and Charles Bell will give a program on "Birdng --An Extraordinary Way to See the World...".  

The DFO field trip for Wednesday, March 27 will be to Morgan County Hotspots led by Joe Roller.  Due to unforeseen circumstances the number of participants has been reduced to 20.  There are a few places remaining, and there will be a waiting list.  Meet the

leader at 0700 at Colorado Division of Wildlife, 6060 N Broadway, exit I-25 at 58th Ave, go west 2 blocks to Broadway, then north 2 blocks to parking lot on right.  Will carpoll and head to Jackson Reservoir, then hit other Morgan County Hotspots.  Will return about 4:30 pm so bring lunch, water, snacks, 2-way radios, and a scope if you have one.  Dress for weather State parks pass required.  This trip will be limited to 20 participants.  Please  e-mail Joe at jroller9@gmail.com.
