Re: [cobirds] Cranes over SW Longmont

I happened to see this same flock. They must have roosted somewhere in the area. I first saw them farther south of your casa, circling in a tight formation and gaining altitude on an apparent thermal. What amazed me as I sat watching is how, almost in unison, they all peeled off the thermal and morphed into one large echelon formation pointed north. Within a minute, a dozen split off into their own formation and headed NNE.

Great way to start a day!
