Hey 'Loozers,
(No disrespect intended). If you are coming from the Fort Collins area, I can take up to 6 passengers in my spacious birding van. My plan is to depart Harmony Road Transportation Center (north end) at 8:00 am, make a quick stop to view the Trumpeter Swans in Loveland (this will be good to compare later with the Tundra Swans at Valmont Res), then stop at Teller Lake #5 in Boulder at about 9 am to experience the gulls feeding on the exposed dead fish – a great way to get close views through a scope at several species of common and rare gulls (e.g. Herring, Thayer's, Lesser Black-backed, perhaps Iceland, and any odd white-winged hybrid gulls that might be present, before heading to Valmont at 11:30 am where the gulls may be further away. Respond to me off-list to reserve your spot (first come-first serve; contribution for gasoline appreciated; bring lunch). We should return to Harmony Road Transport Center by 7 pm.
Incidentally, car pooling is a great way to not only save $$ on gasoline, and reduce our carbon footprint, but it will also free up parking spaces at Valmont. I would encourage other drivers from points north of the Harmony Rd. Transport Center to also meet for carpooling. I propose planned departures for 9 am and 10 am also from the north end (wear your binoculars to identify yourself as a birder), and I encourage birders from other locations (Denver, Colorado Springs, etc.) to consider doing the same (i.e. set up carpooling locations). Even Boulder County birders would be making a difference by car-pooling rather than individually driving to Valmont.
Ted, does ABA or CFO have some sort of electronic bulletin board where carpoolers can post their carpooling needs/offers for Gullapalooza?

Hello, Birders.
-- Just a quick reminder here that everything's a "go" for tomorrow's Gullapalooza. We'll get under way at Xcel Energy's Valmont generating station (a.k.a. "Valmont Reservoir"), Boulder County, tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 2nd, at noon. Arrive by 11:45 a.m. if you want any chance at a parking space.
Looks like we'll have great weather: sunny and mild during the afternoon. We have a fantastic slate of field trip leaders, plus we've arranged for some very nice birds to put in appearances. You don't want to miss this.

See you tomorrow!
