[cobirds] Rusty Blackbirds - Adams County

Having regretfully  missed yesterday's festivities at Valmont Res, I thought I'd finally get over to look for the Rusty Blackbirds at Sand Creek and the S. Platte River just south of I-270.  Six were perched in the cottonwood just above the confluence upon arrival around 1 pm.  They flew across and took turns at the water's edge before we moved on.  Further north above I-270 was a group of 5 Brewer's Blackbirds making for a nice comparison.  Waterfowl (10 species) and Ring-billed Gulls galore, 4 Red-tailed Hawks, a kestrel, a kingfisher, a few pipits, House Sparrows, Rock Pigeons, and a dead Black-crowned Night-Heron made up the rest of the avian sights.

Cheers,
