The first day Donna saw the Barrow's (Tuesday 12/22) and suggested to me in the parking lot where I might spot him (thanks again for the tip), I, too, saw a female Common Goldeneye hanging out with him and thought the same thing, Bruce.
It'll be interesting to see if they do, indeed, court . . . .
