The Fountain Creek Christmas Bird Count occurred this past Wednesday on one of the nicer weather days this week, although it was still chilly with a decent amount of ice and snow around.--We tallied 85 species and 2 additional count week species (so far) with 7883 individuals, which appears to be fairly average for this count. Some of our fun sightings included: American Dipper (new for the count), Eastern Bluebirds returning after an absence of a few years, and 41 Canyon Towhees (a new count high).
