[cobirds] YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONs Yuma County

Both juvenile and parent Yellow-crowned Night Heron were observed this afternoon independently and together at this location. The juvenile was observed flying from the dam upstream to a point next to the creek about 100 yards west of the lake. It later flew off upstream. The parent was observed just below the dam about one hour later. Both were observed flying into a shallow and secluded area at the upstream end just before a rainstorm blew in.

Also observed were a male and female Northern Cardinal on the northwest side of the lake.

Thank you Joey and Kathy for the great tip.
