[cobirds] Cool new Colorado bird book

Hey, everybody.

Yesterday I received my copy of Birds of Aspen and the Roaring Fork Valley, by Colorado birder Rebecca Weiss. It's beautiful, it's detailed, it's current, it's useful. Looks like the book is available through all the usual online channels (just Google it) and from the proverbial "fine book sellers everywhere."

Each species account comprises one or more color photos by Mark Fuller, thorough notes on "Local Habitats," a summary of "Field Marks," an accurate description of "Voice," and, best of all in my opinion, a wonderful essay on the species' natural history in the region. Although I accept that this book is intended for use in and around Aspen, it's also an all-round good read. The taxonomy is current, with doves and hummingbirds toward the front, wood-warblers at the very end. Still getting used to that!

Highly recommended!

The usual disclaimers: I have no financial interest in this book; and I am posting with the list moderator's permission.
