Last night about 5:30 PM, I saw a flotilla of about 10 Wilson Phalaropes swimming around in a closely aggregated group on Lake San Cristobal. They stayed around till sunset. This morning, after a fairly extensive search, I could not find them again. Having birded up here for several years, this is the first time I have seen this species anywhere in the county. I presume the lake was just a resting place on their way south.
