--On August 11, John Rawinski reported 1 Caspian Tern and 2 Whimbrels at Blanca Wetlands. The Whimbrels were on pond 114.
BOULDER COUNTY:
--An EASTERN (LILIAN'S) MEADOWLARK has been found by Johanna Beam at McIntosh Reservoir in the NW corner. It has
been seen with 2 young. On July 30, Johanna Beam and Todd Deininger reported ad EASTERN MEADOWLARK at McIntosh Reservoir. On August 1, Johanna Beam and Richard Taylor reported EASTERN MEADOWLARK at McIntosh Reservoir. On August 2, Todd Deininger reported EASTERN (Lilian's) MEADOWLARK and Caspian Tern at McIntosh Reservoir. On August 6, Connie Takamine reported EASTERN (Lilian's) MEADOWLARK at McIntosh Reservoir. On August 10, Steve Mlodinow reported EASTERN (Lilian's) MEADOWLARK at McIntosh Reservoir. On August 12, Todd Deininger reported EASTERN (Lilian's) MEADOWLARK at McIntosh Reservoir. On August 14, John Drummond reported 3 EASTERN (Lilian's) MEADOWLARKS (1 ad, 2 juv) at McIntosh Reservoir. On August 15, Mark Miller reported EASTERN (Lilian's) MEADOWLARKS were present in the NW Corner of McIntosh Reservoir but
difficult to see and David Waltman reported 2 juv EASTERN MEADOWLARKS. On August 16, Todd Deininger reported ad EASTERN MEADOWLARK at McIntosh Reservoir.
--A Black Phoebe was reported by Joyce Takamine along Boulder Creek west of 79th St. on August 11. It was not at the bridge. Take the dirt path to the west and look in vegetation along the north side of creek.
CLEAR CREEK
--On August 8 at Echo Lake, Scott Someshoe reported f Barrow's Goldeneye with 6 young. On August 14, Dave Leatherman reported F Barrow's Goldeneye with 6 young.
--At Mount Evans on August 8, Scott Somehoe reported Brown-capped Rosy-Finch.
--A Black-and-White Warbler was reported by MacKenzie Goldthwait and Doug Kibbe at Beaver Brook Number 3A Reservoir on August 18.
EL PASO COUNTY:
--An ad Gray Flycatcher was reported by Steve Brown at Clear Spring Ranch on August 13.
GUNNISON COUNTY:
--3 Fox Sparrows were reported at Anthracite Creek on August 12 by Jon Horn and Bill Harris
JEFFERSON COUNTY:
--On July 14 Scott Somershoe reported Black and Eastern Phoebe at Waterton Canyon. On July 24, Scott Somershoe and Lynn Saver reported Black and Eastern Phoebe at Waterton Canyon between canyon mouth and Waterton Rd. On August 4,m Mary O'Connor reported Black and Eastern Phoebe at Waterton Canyon. On August 10, David Suddjian reported Black and Eastern Phoebe at Waterton Canyon from Waterton Road to overhead pipes.
--4 Red-headed Woodpecker were reported by George Mayfield on Stony Pass Road near Wigwam Creek on August 6. On August 9, Scott Manwaring reported Red-headed Woodpecker on Stony Pass Road near Wigwam Creek. On August 14, Scott Somershoe reported 3 Red-headed Woodpeckers at Stony Pass road near Wigwam Creek.
--On August 6, Benjamin Peter reported an ad YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON at Tabor Lake in Wheat Ridge Greenbelt on August 6. It was on the south side of the lake off the bike path. On August 7, Anton Morrison reported Ad YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON at Tabor Lake in Wheat Ridge Greenbelt. Todd Deininger found the YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON in a tree next to Tabor Lake the morning of August 7. On August 8, Matt Crooks and many other birders reported YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON at Tabor Lake. On August 9, Mackenzie Goldthwait and many other birders reported YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON at Tabor Lake. On August 10, David Suddjian, Scott Somershoe, Dean Shoup, Joe Roller, Chris Rurik, and Frank Farrell reported YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON. On August 11, Tim Ryan, Wendy Wibbens, and Jessi Oberbeck reported YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON at Tabor Lake.
--5 Red-headed Woodpeckers were reported by Robert Martinez at Cheeseman Lake on August 13.
--On August 16, Kathleen and Roger Horn reported Eastern Phoebe at Audubon Center and trails at Chatfield.
--A Bewick's Wren was reported by Art Hudak on the Bear Creek Greenbelt from Kipling Pkwy to Wadsworth on August 16.
--Two Eastern Phoebe were reported by Adam Vesely at Platte River Delta at Chatfield SP on August 18.
LARIMER COUNTY:
--On July 25, Nick Komar report 2 singing BAIRD'S SPARROWS on the W side of CR 5 near Rawhide Energy Station about 2 miles N oF Buckeye Road. On August 10, Nick Komar reported 3 BAIRD'S SPARROWS (1 singing ad, 2 juv), 2 Chestnut collared Longspurs, and 1 McCown's Longspur on CR 5 between CR 82 and CR 92. On August 11, Dave Leatherman reported 2 BAIRD'S SPARROWS on CR 5 between CR 82 and CR 92.
--On August 12, Nick Komar reported Upland Sandpiper on CR 5 at 1.3 m N of Buckeye Rd. On August 16, Taylor Abbot reported Upland Sandpiper on CR 5 between CR 82 and CR 92.
--An American Three-toed Woodpecker was reported by Bill Fink at Endovalley CG in Rocky Mountain NP on August 10.
LINCOLN COUNTY:
--An Upland Sandpiper was reported by Glenn Walbek in Genoa on CR 3P on August 17.
LOGAN COUNTY:
--An EASTERN WOOD-PEWEE was reported by Gwen Moore and Matt Clark at Tamarack Ranch SWA on August 9.
--On August 16, John Breitsch reported Red-bellied Woodpecker and several Red-headed Woodpeckers at tamarack Ranch SWA.
--On August 16, John Breitsch reported Red-headed Woodpeckers at Red Lion SWA.
MESA COUNTY:
--At about 8400 Ft between Collbran and Brush Creek, Nic Korte reported Purple Martins on August 2 and 3. On August 11, Nic Korte reported that Purple Martins are using the Collbran area asa staging are for migrations so can be seen in greater numbers than usual
PARK COUNTY:
--An American Three-toed Woodpecker was reported by David Suddjian on Lost Park Rd (CR 56) on August 13. On August 14, Scott Somershoe reported a pair of American Three-toed Woodpeckers on Lost Park Rd along the creek by a road side campsite.
--On CR 211 through Pike NP and Hayman Burn, Scott Somershoe reported 3 Williamson's Sapsuckers.
PROWERS COUNTY:
--On August 7, Jill White Smith reported 15+ Upland Sandpipers about 5 miles S and 3 miles E of Lamar.
--A Great Crested Flycatcher was reported by Jill White Smith at Lamar Community College Woods on August 14.
SAN MIGUEL COUNTY:
--A Black Phoebe was reported by Coen Dexter SE of Norwood at over 7000 ft on August 10.
SEDGWICK COUNTY:
--A Gray Flycatcher was reported by Steve Mlodinow at Stalker Lake on August 14.
--On August 16, John Breitsch reported Red-headed Woodpekcers at Jumbo Reservoir.
WELD COUNTY:
--A Caspian Tern was reported by Steve Mlodinow at Firestone Gravel Pits on July 6. On August 17, Steve Mlodinow reported 2 Caspian Terns at Firestone Gravel Pits.
--An immature Little Blue Heron was reported by Carl Starace at Firestone Gravel Pits on July 24. On August 12, Al Guarente reported Little Blue Heron at Firestone Gravel Pits.
YUMA COUNTY:
--A Lesser Black-backed Gull was reported by Steve Mlodinow at Jumbo Reservoir on August 14.
UPCOMING DFO FIELD TRIPS:
The DFO Field Trip for Friday, August 21 will be to Stauton SP led by Mark Amershek (mamershek AT msn.com; 303-329-8646). Meet at 7:30 AM at the Park-n-Ride at SW corner of Hampden (US 2825) and Wadsworth to carpool to the park. State Parks pass or day pass required This will be an all day trip.
Moderate hike on maintained trails for 3-4 miles. Bring snacks, lunlch, water, sunscreen, and insect repellent. Register online or contact leader to register.
The DFO Field Trip for Saturday, August 22 will be to Belmar Historic Park led by Jackie King (jackie.king AT ccd.edu; 720-381-3314) and Karleen Schofield. Meet at 0730 in the parking lot near the lake. Belmar Historic Park is at 800 S. Wadsworth Blvd in Lakewood. From Alameda and Wadsworth go south on Wadswroth, turn west at the light on West Ohio Ave, drive a short two blocks the the parking lot.
Bring snacks, wataer, and sunscreen for an easy walk around the ponds. Good beginner trip and accessible for persons with a disability.

The DFO Field Trip for Saturday, August 22 will be to Barr Lake SP led by Buzz Schaumberg (EGSGEAGLE171 AT aol.com; 303-478-4641). Meet at 0730 at Barr Lake SP Visitor Center. State Parks pass or day pass required. From Denver, take east I-76 to Bromley Lane, exit 22. Go east on Bromley Lane to picaddily Rd, the turn south for about 2 miles to park entrance and follow road to Visitor Center.
Bring snacks, lunch, and plenty of water. Trip may be 3/4 day depending on birds and weather. Trip can be modified to be accessible for a person with a disability. Register online or contact leader to register.
