Migrations has ground almost to a halt in the willows at Clear Spring Ranch. Very few migrants seen, very few birds banded. I've been watching for birds crossing the moon this week - and haven't seen any there either!
BUT, among the three birds banded today was an adult, non-breeding male, CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER. Very bright white, lots of chestnut on the flanks, but lacking the facial patterns we usually think of. Lots of wing molt, so must have just recently lost color. Photos available upon request.
Hoping for a weather change!
