I spent the morning at Chatfield looking for a pair of Sanderlings posted by a non-birder to Facebook. He took his photo some time last week, though didn't know what part of the park he saw them. No luck for me with the Sanderlings, but did turn up two Willet (one on the swim beach and one on the sand spit by the marina). In addition a second cycle Lesser Black-Backed Gull was hanging out in the parking lot of the North Boat Ramp with some Ringers, but it had flown off before I left. Overall it was slow for passerines. The couple of riparian areas I hit didn't turn up a single warbler!
An additional highlight was the sound of a bull elk bugling repeatedly and quite close to the plum creek trail. Never saw the herd (but could hear cows too), but love that sound!
The Sanderlings could quite likely still be there, as there is much more shoreline I was not able to cover.
