[cobirds] Re: Arapahoe Co. Reservoirs

The coming and going of gulls at Aurora Reservoir is remarkable indeed.  Some probably come from nearby in the fog while others come from far away.  I lingered another hour and a half at the marina late this afternoon, with the interesting and changing mix of gulls in good light making me forget how cold my feet were.  A first-year GLAUCOUS GULL arrived and stayed.  An adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL (making 3 for the day at Aurora) arrived and stayed.  Then a second-year GLAUCOUS GULL joined the group briefly.  Then an adult GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL visited for a while. Surely many of these gulls were the ones seen by Glenn and Steve earlier in the day at Cherry Creek, Quincy, and near Aurora.

Another bird of note at Aurora Reservoir today was a male GADWALL x MALLARD ("Brewer's Duck") among other ducks and many gulls along the dam.

Note that roads around Aurora Reservoir are quite slick, but major highways in the area were clear this afternoon.
