[cobirds] Turkeys near Lyons

Finally…. After years of counting Wild Turkey provisionally on my property list (I had a 20-year

old picture of turkeys on the east deck when my in-laws lived here), we had 6 turkeys visit today…

Apparently 2 males, each with 2 hens loosely attached.

‘Official’ Davis property list at 938 Colard….. 132 species.   Not bad for dry open ponderosa at 6,000 feet,

With no deciduous trees to speak of, and ¾ mile from the nearest open water.  So the property list is weak

on ducks, warblers, gulls, shorebirds, grebes, and anything pelagic, like albatross.

(I do have Belted Kingfisher, but don’t expect to see American Dipper here!!!)

Also today… 16 American Goldfinches and 2 Pine Siskins, no sign of redpolls.

Plus the usual suspects.  (did not hear the pinyon jays today)

call if you want to come up birding, but don’t count on the turkeys.
