Hi all
Linda and I birded Spring Park reservoir, El Jebel this morning
Highlights on a warm 50-60F sunny morning included hundreds of ducks and scores of grebes (Eared and Westerns)
plus
Common Loon 2 alternate plumage
Bonaparte’s Gull 1
Franklin’s Gull 2
California Gull 1
Ring-billed Gull 1
Lesser Yellowlegs 1
Greater Yellowlegs 2
Dowitcher spp 1
Killdeer several
Cackling Goose 3
White-faced Ibis 1
Prairie Falcon 1
Bald Eagle 1 adult
American Pipit 4
Savannah Sparrow several (FOS)
Tree Swallow less than 10, no other swallows
Blue Lake El Jebel (again almost devoid of birds.. water pollution is presumably the issue at this formerly great site. Spoke to a dog walker who said she would no longer let her dog into the water after it developed bad skin after going in the water)
Western Grebe 6
Canada Goose 2
Crawford’s Pond, El Jebel (upstream of Blue Lake)
Is developing a thick green scum – no birds except a couple of Mallards and some domestic geese on the bank
Home:
Black-chinned and Broad-tailed Hummingbirds
Good birding all
