ARAPAHOE COUNTY:

--An imm Glaucous Gull was reported by Kaempfer at Cherry Creek SP on February 28.


ARAPAHOE/JEFFERSON COUNTIES:

--Two Long-tailed Ducks were reported by Kibbe on South Platte Reservoir  West end(signed entrance is on Platte Canyon Rd. north of C-470) on February 22.   An ad Lesser Black-backed Gull was reported by Kibbe at South Platte Reservoir (Arapahoe County) on February 28.


BACA COUNTY:

On February 23 at Two Buttes SWA below the dam, Gordon reported 2 Harris's Sparrows, White-throated Sparrow, GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW and Curve-billed Thrasher.  On February 25, Leatherman reported 1 Harris's Sparrow and GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW in  first 100 yards of road that goes down from north end of Two Buttes Res dam to area E of dam which includes pond called Black Hole.


BENT COUNTY:

--On February 19, Duane Nelson observed imm Glaucous Gull and ad Lesser Black-backed Gull from the dam at John Martin Reservoir.

On February 21, Duane Nelson reported 2nd-cyc Glaucous Gull and Ad Great Black-backed Gull from dam at John Martin Reservoir.


BOULDER COUNTY:
--Rosy-Finches including 2 Black and 2 Gray-crowned were reported by Kaempfer at Upper Ward Feeders west past the Old Depot on February 16.  On February 23, Deininger reported all three species of Rosy-Finches at the 3 Upper Ward Feeders.
--45 Bohemian Waxwings and 5 Harris's Sparrows were reported by Guarente on Crane Hollow Road on February 18. Drive South/East on Crane Hollow, the birds were by the house at the bottom of the hill.  Pieplow reported on February 22 that the 5 Harris's Sparrows continue on Crane Hollow Road which is SW of Hygiene.
--A enormous flock of Bohemian Waxwings was reported by Vanderpoel in Niwot on Meadowlane, SW of the high school on February 21.  On February 22, King reported a large flock of Bohemian Waxwings eating berries and drinking melting water on Gold Nugget Dr in Niwot.
--A Common Redpoll was reported by Matheus in the SW corner of Baseline Reservoir on February 21.
--A flock of 70 Bohemian Waxwings was reported by Tumasonis in the Gunbarrel area on Spine Road near Lookout in a big Alder tree across from Spectra Logic on February 22.  On February 23, Pieplow reported 85 Bohemian Waxwings in the SW corner of Spine and Orchard Creek Lane in Gunbarrel.  A flock of 60 - 70 Bohemian Waxwings was reported by Martinez in Gunbarrel at an office park off of 63rd and Longbow on February 23.
--A Harris's Sparrow was reported by Mlodinow on February 23 S of Ish Reservoir.
--50 Bohemian Waxwings were reported by Mlodinow on February 27 on Brockway Dr about 1/4 E of 76th.  Brockway can be reached
from 76th which can be reached from either Baseline or South Boulder Road.
--A White-winged Dove was reported by Burke in Gunbarrel on February 28.  It was seen on White Rock Circle, 2 houses down from Spine Road.

DOUGLAS COUNTY:
--A f type PURPLE FINCH has been visiting the feeder at the home of Glenn Walbek in Castle Rock for almost 2 months.   If you would like to try to see it please contact Glenn at juncos AT comcast.net since you need to be inside the house to see it.


JEFFERSON COUNTY:

-- The GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW at the Red Rocks Trading Post, first reported by Henwood on Nov 26 and present all winter, was seen again on Feb 25 by Henwood and Kibbe.  Both also report NO Rosy-Finches.

--The Wheat Ridge Redpolls continue to visit the feeder of Bob Santangelo at 3525 Estes.  They first arrived January 12 and continue at least through February 21.  Please do NOT park in the driveway, it is okay to park in front of the driveway and get out of cars to see the feeder.

LARIMER COUNTY:

--The flock of redpolls continues to be seen behind the Discovery Museum in Fort Colllins, located at Cherry and Mason St which is the NW corner of College and Cherry.   Rob Sparks reported on February 25 that the Common Redpolls and a HOARY REDPOLL continue

to be seen behind the museum and its feeders.  

--One Trumpeter Swan continues on Lower Hoffman Lake, Loveland, first reported by Rynes on February 3; then on Feb 23 by Mlodinow.

--33 Bohemian Waxwings were reported by Lefko on West Lake Ave on the CSU campus on February 25, but they flew SE.  


PUEBLO COUNTY:

--On February 15 Percival reported the following at Pueblo Reservoir:  1 ad MEW GULL, 1 1-st cyc Glaucous Gull, 1 ad Lesser Black-backed Gull, 1 ad Thayer's Gull and 1 Red-throated Loon.  The gulls were on the ice line seen from SWA on the NW side of Pueblo Reservoir and the loon was seen off of North Picnic Road.   On February 22, Percival reported that the imm Glaucous Gull continues at Pueblo Reservoir SWA.


RIO BLANCO COUNTY:

A Snow Bunting (non-breeding female) was found by Jessica Brauch and reported by Brett Walker along CR 26 on BLM Land SW of CR 5 (Piceance Creek Rd). on February 27.  CR 26 is snowy and icy but driveable in heavy-duty, high clearance 4WD vehicles.  Bring chains.  


RIO GRANDE COUNTY:

--A Harris's Sparrow was reported by Simmons in the turnoff to Monte Vista NWR on CR 8E on February 21.


WELD COUNTY:

--A Lesser Black-backed Gull and Thayer's Gull were reported by Mlodinow at N Weld County Landfill on February 23.  The landfill is on Hwy 14 W of Ault.

--A Lesser Black-backed Gull was reported by Mlodinow on February 23 at Drake Lake which is S of Hwy 14 and W of Ault.

--At LUNA Reservoir on February 27, Mlodinow reported Snow Bunting and ad Thayer's Gull.  LUNA is on CR 11 between CR 2 and CR 6.

Adams County is south of CR 2 (also 168th Ave) and Broomfield County is west of CR 11.


The DFO field trip for Saturday, March 2 will be to Belmar Park led by Bob Shade (303-975-2476).  Meet leader at parking lot at 0800 at 800 S. Wadsworth Blvd.  From Alameda and Wadsworth go south on Wadsworth, turn west at the light on West Ohio Ave.  Drive a short 2 blocks to parking lot.  Half day trip.  May visit other Lakewood areas if time permits.


The DFO field trip for Sunday, March 3 will be to Wheat Ridge Greenbelt led by Tom Parchman (303-274-7951).  Meet Tom at 0800 at Prospect Park for a 1/2 day.  Bring water and snacks; dress appropriately, in layers for weather.  From I-70 ext 267, take Kipling south about 3/4 of a mile and turn right (west) on 44th Ave.  Go one mile west.  Look for entrance to Prospect Park on your left (south).  Meet just inside the park in the lot right next to the lake.  Walking is easy but may involve up to 3 miles of walking.
