We did bit of birding at Fountain Creek today. There was good activity from the regular summer residents with several juveniles seen.
There were 2 Townsend's Warblers and 4-5 Virginia's Warblers, by the small stream across the gazebo near the north parking lot.
There was a Sharp-shinned Hawk near the Visitors Center, and a Cooper's Hawk near the north parking lot; at first it was chasing a small flock of songbirds and a little while later we saw it being chased by a single songbird.
A Mississippi Kite made a fly-over above Rice pond.
The Green Herons (3) were still there and we saw a single Black-crowned Night-Heron
A hiker told us that he had seen a Ferruginous Hawk but we did not see it.
Good birding,
Cecile Lee
