[cobirds] Brown-capped Rosy-Finch, Boulder County

Hello Birders,

Saw a small flock of these at Skyscraper Reservoir today, 10 mile round trip hike from Hessie Trailhead, west of Eldora in the Indian Peaks, about 2,320' elevation gain. Wife Barb was so pleased she went for a swim in Skyscraper--my lips turned blue watching her. She claimed to see a couple of green-backed cutthroat trout at nearby Woodland Lake, but they turned out to be oblong rocks (rock trout). Along the way we saw interesting mushrooms, wildflowers, and the usual mountain birds.

Yes, one could drive to the top of Mt. Evans to see Brown-capped Rosy-Finch, but that would be TOO EASY.

Cheers,

Tom Wilberding
