[cobirds] Bird Conservancy Banding Report - Chatfield Station, 5/21/17

Another interesting morning - 41 birds of 19 species, including our first Cooper's Hawk since 2008:

Cooper's Hawk 1
Mourning Dove 1 
Least Flycatcher 1
Dusky Flycatcher 2
Black-capped Chickadee 2
House Wren 2
Swainson's Thrush 1
Hermit Thrush 1
Gray Catbird 7
Yellow Warbler 4 new, 1 banded in 2016, 1 in 2015
Black & White Warbler 1
MacGillivray's Warbler 1
Common Yellowthroat 2
Wilson's Warbler 4
Western Tanager 2
Spotted Towhee 2
Lincoln's Sparrow 3
Lesser Goldfinch 1
American Goldfinch, 1, banded 2016 

The banding station runs daily, weather permitting, through June 1 (except Memorial Day), from 7:00 to approximately 11:30. WEEKEND visitors should PRE-REGISTER at Denveraudubon.org. We have been very busy through this weekend but I understand there are plenty of openings for next weekend, the last of the season, so if you've been waiting now is the time!  Weekdays school groups arrive around10; early weekday mornings are the time to drop in for a peaceful visit with us and the birds!
