The evening of July 16, Paul Slingsby and I conducted an evening flight line count of White-faced Ibis flying into a nesting colony area (willow island and large island) on Walden Reservoir. Young birds were heard at the willow island. Here is the report:

-- This is the second year that a large number of ibis have nested at Walden Reservoir. It is possible that some of the birds are Glossy Ibis. Doug Faulkner documented nesting Glossy Ibis at one of the nearby Wyoming refuges several years ago. So far, however, all of the ibises we have been able to identify to species have been White-faced.
The ibis can be inconspicuous during the day when most are out feeding. They can best be seen from the east or southeast edge of the reservoir. When good views can be obtained, it is worth checking for Glossy Ibis.
