Finishing a nice early winter trip to Colorado, I birded around Lake Estes in Estes Park, Larimer County, Thursday afternoon. Among the waterfowl lingering on the Lake were a nice pair of Green-winged Teal, a female Greater Scaup, a pair of Common Mergansers, and 5 Common Goldeneye. I also had an American Dipper flying up and down the Big Thompson near where it enters the Lake, and a Belted Kingfisher patrolling the Lake.
At our vacation home here in Estes Park this morning we had 40 Wild Turkey in the back feeding under the bird feeders. Quite a sight!
